The Scholars Drumline entertains the crowd at...

The Scholars and Texarkana College Black Student Association present "Keeping History Alive - Know The Past, Shape The Future" on Saturday, June 29 at 6 PM, at Texarkana College in the Stilwell Theatre.

"And then we're going to have The Scholars Drum line. They've won local awards. You've seen them before. They will be our opening act, The Scholars Drum line," Parks said. "And then we're going to end the evening with a jazz combo from Arkansas High School."

The luncheon benefits The Scholars travel expenses associated with the 2019 Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee performance. Dr. Brandon Thurston will be the luncheon speaker for this all-ages event that includes an induction ceremony and the Liberty-Eylau Jazz Band.

Members of the Scholars group perform on drums Saturday at the 27th annual Youth Rally sponsored by Twin City Black History Association at Hickory Hill Baptist Church in Nash, Texas. "Every year, this is a time to get our youth together where they can showcase their talents.

Saturday night's Keeping Our History Alive celebration at Texarkana College brings African history to life with dance, jazz music, spoken word, Afrocentric fashions and more.
